News from Edinburgh - Day 6
Special today: Three people celebrated their birthday - Carmela, Corina and Benno. With birthday cakes and candles we sang them "Happy Birthday" in the morning.
As it was the last school day, our students received their certificates. They got very good feedbacks about their knowledge of English, their participation in class and their behaviour. Again: a real reference for Switzerland.

After a short lunch we hopped on a bus for Cramond. From there we walked to Cramond island what you can only do when it is low tide.
Tonight we're going to have a group dinner and a slideshow of photos from the week. Then we have to say Goodbye to David and Edinburgh.

News from Edinburgh - Day 6
Today at school the students got familiar with the British way of life:
- Shops are open on Sundays - we like that.
- People like queueing - we should learn that.
- Standing on the pavement in a big group makes people angry - we stand in a line now.
- and more ...
Later we learnt about Scottish history and culture, so we are becoming real experts about Scotland and Edinburgh.

In the afternoon, all the students joined an old fashioned Victorian class. The forced silence and the need to sit tight (without moving) was quite a good experience for everyone.

The ceilidh with more than hundred students was a highlight of this week. We learnt four Scottish dances together with students from Spain and Italy. David did really a good job!

News from Edinburgh - Day 5
For two classes the Englisch lessons took place in town. One group practiced their English in the Royal Mile and interviewed people.

Another group went to the National Museum where the students visited the exhibition and answered questions. After four days with a lot of activities the students enjoyied a free afternoon in town. They went shopping and sightseeing. A little group joined David and went to an old pub to play skittles, wich is simular to pin bowling.

It was great fun. The students spent the evening with their host families. Everyone was looking forward to next highlight: a Ceilidh with more than hundred people!

News from Edinburgh - Day 4
Typical Scottish weather - rain all day. Happy students at school, it's dry and cosy in the classrooms...

In the afternoon, we had an interesting tour backstage at the Lyceum Theater. In a theater workshop students experienced practice in acting.

And even more in the evening a magician impressed us with different skills: tricks, acrobatic and balloon modelling. Students and teachers were busy copying tricks and acrobatic. Finally, everyone sat in the taxi happy, tired and cuddling their balloon doggies.

News from Edinburgh - Day 3
Our first day at school started with general information about the language school, Edinburgh, security and more. For the lessons the students were splitted in four groups. The English lessons last from 09.30 - 10.30 and 11.30 - 13.00. In the afternoon we walked to the summit of Arthur`s Seat.

There we enjoyed the view over Edinburgh. After a quick diner at home the students rushed back to the town center where we walked from the New Town to the Old Town. There we met Anne who is a brilliant story teller. We played some warm up games and listened to stories.
Anne was a perfect Mime what helped us a lot to understand the stories.

News from Edinburgh - Day 2
Our day trip started at 9.30 in front of our school. A coach took us to South Queensferry, where we had a wonderful view at the bridges over the Firth of Forth. We continued our journey to Saint Andrews, where Prince William met Kate. First we went there for walk right at the beach.

The students enjoyed then their free time in the town center. The next stop was at Kelly Castle.

In front of the castle David taught us a Scottish dance, which was great fun. After a short stop in Anstruther, a nice fishing village, we returned to Edinburgh. The evening all the students spent with their hosts.

News from Edinburgh - Day 1
An early morning for everyone. At 03.45 all the students were on time, even our headmaster Mr. Blaettler was there to say goodbye. After a quick journey - we arrived 25 minutes earlier in Edinburgh than supposed - David Vivanco gave us a warm welcome.

In three groups we discovered Edinburgh: Georgian House - Calton Hill -Starbucks. At 4 o'clock the host families picked the students up. For sure: an early night for everyone tonight.
